Our Programs & Services

Backpack drive

In August 2018, we held a backpack drive at P.S. 243 The Weeksville School in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. We successfully provided low-income students with school supplies for the 2018-2019 school year. Students were provided with book bags, notebooks, pencils, pens, and other necessities to aid in their academic success. MOre than 200 students and families participated and benefited from our backpack initiative.

Toy drive

In December 2010, B.A.S.E initiated a toy drive in conjunction with LBN Care for The Homeless Shelter. We pooled our resources to purchase new toys for children living in challenging circumstances. We also collaborated with the Cross Island YMCA for additional toy donations. Children in the shelter received remote control cars, dolls, board games, and other toys.

Covid-19

2020 has been a trying year in regards to all the events that have taken place. The COVID-19 pandemic struck like lightning, negatively affecting all facets of life. BASE organizations made the decisions to aid disenfranchised communities by providing personal protective equipment. We held an emergency fundraiser and raised more than $8,000 dollars in cash and in-kind donations. The funds were used to purchase thousands of masks, gloves, hand sanitizers, and hand soap. Supplies were distributed in bulk to several frontline organizations, including nursing homes and shelters. BASE members also personally distributed supplies to communities in Canarsie and Cypress Hill. Our outreach efforts served over 1,000 community members as we continue to execute our mission of social empowerment.

Mentorship Program

Coming soon - The program is designed to steer, and guide at-risk youth in the direction of becoming successful contributors to society.  Mentors will teach youth new skill sets that are beneficial to their development. Mentorship will focus on coping skills, being organized, goal setting, problem-solving skills, and developing maturity.  This program will be a continued growing network for all participants.  It is our goal to create positive long-lasting relationships with the community.

Parenting Skills

Coming soon - We intend to enhance parenting and family lifestyle within our communities.  Parenting can be overwhelming and a challenge to many.  Our program will provide instructions on discipline techniques, coping skills, self-care, and education on child development stages.  Our goal is for parents to have a better understanding of their child's socio-emotional growth throughout their youth.  This knowledge will ideally strengthen the communication and relationship within the family unit.

After-School Program

Our after-school program seeks to enrich the lives of youths in our community.  We will provide a safe space for youth to engage with each other while strengthening their academic prowess.  Our programs will have a focus on socio-emotional development through a balanced measure of academia and physical activity.  Through our program, we will support the community by providing them with a positive resource for their children to engage in. We will partner with schools in the community to identify at-risk youth and families.
